On October 16, 1991, Clodine Humphrey and Zona Mae
Lynn from Marlin, Texas were victims of a
gunman at Luby’s Cafeteria in Killeen,
Texas. The two servants of the Lord traveled to
Luby’s Cafeteria to eat lunch following the morning gathering of the October
Board meeting of the Good Hope Western General Association. The late Humphrey
and Lynn served more than
20 years as secretaries with the Church Training Union, Sunday Church
School and Youth
Congress.
In 1995, the Church Training Union and Sunday Church
School Congress of the
Good Hope Western General Association established a scholarship fund in memory
of Clodine Humphrey and Zona Mae Lynn for deserving high school graduates. To
reflect on the lives of the two courageous
women, I encourage all churches within the district to actively participate in
the Humphrey/Lynn Scholarship Banquet 2020.
This year we will be commerative year as we celebrate 25 years for the
Humphrey/Lynn Scholarship Banquet we want to make this year a special
